Casanova di Neri was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri. Located in Montalcino, Italy, the 120-acre estate is divided into four distinct sites, Pietradonice in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, Cetine in S. Angelo in Colle, Cerretalto, and Fiesole. Currently the estate is managed by Giovanni's son, Giacomo and consultant Carlo Ferrini who produce traditional wines that are superior expressions of terroir with good structure and judicious use of oak. This “White Label” Brunello is the winery’s foundation wine (the winery produces three other Brunellos, “Tenuta Nuova,” “Giovanni Neri,” and the single-vineyard “Cerretalto”). The Casanova di Neri has been lauded as one of the region’s most balanced and enjoyable entry-level Barolos, and this bottling will show you why: silky-smooth on the palate, it has aromas of dried strawberries and exotic fruit, with notes of balsam, cedar and tobacco throughout leading to a long and dramatic finish.
