The Kientzler domaine is a small fifth-generation family estate located in Ribeauvillé, with vines spread out over the villages of Ribeauvillé, Bergheim, Hunawihr, and Riquewihr. The vineyards are planted largely to Riesling and Gewurztraminer, with small amounts of Pinot Gris, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Muscat, Auxerrois, and Chasselas also in play. Winemaker Thierry Kientzler favors dry, food-friendly white wines, and that’s what you will find here. “La Soif” is a relatively new creation of his, the result of several years of experimentation to create a wine that goes with a wide range of foods but can also be enjoyed on its own. A blend of Chasselas, Riesling, Muscat, and Auxerrois done in stainless steel with eight months on the lees, it has aromas of bright white fruits and is fresh, fruity, and lively on the palate.
