When Andrea Vecchione, proprietor of San Quirico, planted his original 26.5 acres of vineyards more than 25 years ago, he was one of few in the area of San Gimignano who took a scientific approach to planting. The results have been so outstanding that his vineyards are now a prime source for select grafting. His vineyards, with their southern and western exposure, have now doubled in size, but in his approach to winemaking, Andrea still has one yardstick: quality. This is quintessential Vernaccia, with gentle floral and citrus aromas, undertones of stone fruits and fresh herbs, great minerality, with hints of anise and almonds on the crisp finish.
