The House of Laurent-Perrier was founded in 1812 by André Michel Pierlot and took the name Veuve Laurent-Perrier when Mathilde Emilie Perrier, the widow of Eugène Laurent, combined the two family names after she decided to expand the business. Eugénie Hortense Laurent, her daughter, inherited the house in 1925 and sold it to Marie-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt in 1939; it remains in the hands of that family today. Their Cuvee Rose is widely considered the benchmark for rose sparkling wine around the world. It is 100% Pinot Noir from ten different villages, including the famous village of Bouzy; clean and slightly sharp, it opens to the sensation of freshly picked strawberries, Morello cherries, black currants and raspberries, and the finish is supple and rounded.
