Growers in the village of Buxeuil since the mid-17th century, the Moutard family have a long history as Champagne producers in the Aube. While they are technically registered as a negociant, 85% of their production is from their estate vineyards. Buxeuil is in the Côte des Bar, the warmest sub-region of Champagne, and the soils here are largely clay-limestone, a combination that makes for a rich, fruity style of Champagne. In addition to being important role-players in Champagne, the family also controls an estate in burgundy where they produce both sparking and still wines and a distillery in Champagne that produces marcs, liqueurs and whiskies. Their Grand Cuvee is 100% Pinot Noir, rich and creamy, with great energy, stylish and very easy to like.
