Felsina was founded in 1966 by Domenico Poggiali, who developed the properties, wines and business side in the following years along with his son Giuseppe Poggiali. Later, his son-in-law also called Giuseppe and finally Giuseppe’s first son, Giovanni, representing the third generation, joined the company. Located in the southeasternmost part of the Chianti Classico zone, the property extends over at least 1,235 acres with 222 acres under vine. If you know nothing else about them, however, know that this is a producer who creates compelling wines and releases them at contained prices, making Felsina accessible to all wine enthusiasts and one of Italy's greatest values. The Berardenga, which takes its name from the town where the estate is located, is their entry-level Chianti Classico; 100% Sangiovese, it is fresh and easy-drinking, more earthy than fruity, with cherry and chocolate character, creamy tannins, and a long, flavorful finish.
