Chateau Meyney in Saint Estephe has a long history starting in the 17th century. At that time, the Bordeaux wine estate belonged to the monks who planted the first vines at Meyney. Prior to the planting of the vines, the property was used a convent. However, the modern age of Chateau Meyney starts in 1917, when it was purchased by the well-established Cordier family. The wines were produced at the time by the same team that looked after all the numerous Cordier estates. In 2004, Chateau Meyney was purchased by CA Grands Crus, the wine estate division of the massive French bank Credit Agricole, which owns several other Bordeaux estates, and in 2013 Hubert de Bouard was brought on to consult for this and all the other CA estates. His hand has clearly been seen since, as recent vintages have been acclaimed as the best wines ever produced here. A 65/25/10 blend of Cabernet, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, this is a full-bodied, well-rounded Bordeaux with great complexity and balance.
