Charles Heidsieck is the smallest of the Grandes Marques champagne houses. Founded by Charles Heidsieck in 1851 in Reims, it was acquired in 1983 by the Remy Cointreau wine and spirits group, and was sold in 2011 to privately owned French luxury goods group EPI (Société européenne de participations industrielles) founded by Christopher Descours. As with outher houses, Heidsieck creates cuvées millésimés only in years when the grapes are of outstanding quality and the wines merit several years of maturing in the cellars to ensure that the aromas slowly mature and develop the wine's complexity and long-lasting character. 2013 was such a vintage, yielding, in this case, a wine with a powerful and pure profile, marked by generosity, a rich texture, and complemented by an exceptional freshness that crowns the harmony of the wine.
