Zlatan Plenkovic launched his winemaking venture in 1986 on the island of Hvar, off the Dalmatian coast of Croatia; it became an official winery in 1991, only the second private winery to be formed in the wake of Yugoslavian communism. Plenkovic started by developing a modest hospitality business and making small amounts of wine for his guests; over time, through the force of his personality he convinced growers to sell him grapes on credit and expanded the business. Zlatan died in 2016, leaving the successful business he had built in the hands of his children, winemaker Nicola and daughter Marin and Antonia. Focus from the start has been on indigenous varieties, and this white blend brings together four of those native grapes, Bogdanusa, Posip, Marastina, and Prc; fresh and savory, it offers aromas and flavors of flowers, figs, and melons, with great salinity and minerality.
