Wolffer Estate Vineyard, founded in 1987 on Long Island's south shore, is an American winery in the classic European tradition; the estate comprises 55 acres and practices sustainable agriculture. When winemaker Roman Roth created the “summer in a bottle” blend with the 2014 vintage the wine completely sold out in less than four weeks. But it came right back again the next year and in succeeding years, a unique blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. It has lush aromas of ripe fresh fruit (think cantaloupe, pear, and peach) and a full-flavored mouth-feel that stays elegant and balanced with vibrant acidity and classic minerality.
