Tenuta di Trinoro is found in a valley just west of the Florence-Rome autostrada near Sarteano, where Tuscany meets Umbria and Lazio; here Andrea Franchetti, to the consternation of many of his compatriots, has chosen to focus primarily on Cabernet Franc. Le Cupole, his second label, is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in one- to three-year-old barriques and cement, Le Cupole is velvety and approachable, hitting the palate with exuberance, full of fleshy, bright fruit, extracted tannins, and rich color.
