egaleali is a vast Sicilian estate owned since 1837 by the noble Tasca d’Almarita family. The family runs a model estate that produces 200,000 cases annually, and the wines are made in one of the world’s most modern facilities, built under the direction of noted consultant Ezio Rivella. Today the winery is run by Lucio Tasca and his sons, Giuseppe and Alberto, and the wines are made by Carlo Ferrini, one of Italy’s most renowned winemakers. Critics have called this Nero d’Avola a classic expression of Sicily’s most important indigenous grape. Made in a fresh, accessible style, it offers plenty of dark fruit intensity, with hints of nuts and fresh herbs and a dark chocolate richness supported by a firm lively structure.
