Salvatore Marino, a fifth-generation winemaker, started his small winery in Pachino, in the southeastern corner of Sicily, in 2017. Marino farms his vineyard biodynamically and takes a noninterventionist approach in the cellar, crafting artisanal wines with plenty of character. A man of many talents, Marino also produces artisanal semolina pasta from his own wheat, without the use of chemical products. His red is a 90/10 blend of Nero d'Avola and Pignatello; made with spontaneous fermentation and only one week of maceration, this is a fresh, focused red with dry cherry tannins.
