The Grasso family has been producing wine since 1927, but Federico Grasso started bottling under his own label only in 1980. Over the years since then the winery has enjoyed consideable critical acclaim for their Nebbiolos produced in a sophisticated modern style. This Langhe Nebbiolo, their entry-level wine, is a case in point: the wine is fermented in stainless steel, then aged in steel for six months with an additional three noths in large oak casks. Today the winery is run by Silvio's son Alessio Federico with his two sons, Silvio in the vineyards and Paolo in the cellar. Their 35 acres are planted entirely to red grapes, a mix of Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo. Filled with bright cherries and raspberry jam, this wine features soft, firm tannins, dry rose petals, dusty chalk, and a kiss of oak, leading to a spicy finish.
