Josephine de Boyd is the second label of Chateau Boyd-Cantenac, a Left Bank property that was first formed in 1754 by Jacques Boyd. Over the years the chateau changed hands several times, being for some time the property of the Ginestet family noted Bordeaux traders. Since 1932 it has been with the Guillermet family, with Lucien Guillermet today in charge. The 43-acre vineyard is planted to the classic Bordeaux mix of Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, with Cabernet Sauvignon predominating. “Josephine” is a soft, approachable Margaux with floral notes mixed with red fruits on the nose and palate and an elegant texture.
