Cape Classics, founded in 1992 by brothers André and Gary Shearer, is the largest importer of South African wines into the United States. The Jam Jar wines are produced in South Africa by Cape Classics, with the stated conviction that “anyone who likes their wines on the sweeter side deserves to have a delicious and well-crafted option.” Their Shiraz from South Africa’s Western Cape is almost jammy, but not quite, perhaps best described as semi-sweet; it is fresh and fruity, with aromas and flavors of ripe juicy berries and dark chocolate undertones, and its balance between sweetness and acidity makes for a refreshing approachability.
