Ezequiel Sanchez-Mateos' first career was in banking, but after several years he switched to the world of wine, first creating a comapny called Vivanda & Bibere, showcasing artisanal wine and food products, and then with Reserva y Cata, a chain of wine shops in Madrid, which he now owns. This in tuurn led to a partnership with oenologist Juan Manuel Gonzalvo and the creation of Galgo Wines in 2009, a structure within which the two co-produce wines with small producers all over the Iberian peninsula. For this wine they partnered with Diego and Alvaro Dieguez of Sentiviño Wines in the Ribeiro region of northwestern Spain. Mostly Mencia, with small amounts of three other local grapes blended in, done entirely in stainless steel, this is a fresh, delicate red with crunchy fruit and bright acidity.
