Considered a rising star of the southern Rhône, this biodynamic domain is located just northwest of Gigondas; here Daniel Boulle produces several different cuvées of Côtes du Rhône which have won him considerable acclaim. American importer Peter Weygandt proclaims: “Finding this secluded chais (and the glorious wines inside) is one of the great discoveries of my career as an importer. As Robert Parker stated in Issue 131 of The Wine Advocate, the wines of Daniel Boulle ‘may be the richest Cotes du Rhone I have tasted.’ Certainly for me they are.” Initially Boulle sold virtually his entire production to the local co-op but began bottling his own wine in 1999. This is his basic Cotes du Rhone, a 70/20/10 blend of Grenache, Mourvedre and Carignan; ripe and racy with notes of boysenberry and plum, it has a long, sleek anise-filled finish.
