In 1997, Terry Peabody and Steve Smith joined forces, their shared aim being to make single-vineyard wines that are true expressions of the vineyard’s terroir. Craggy Range actually comprises two separate wineries in Hawkes Bay on New Zealand's north island, Giants Winery, which houses three separate cellars, and the state-of-the-art facility called State Highway 50 Winery. Grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc are sourced from the winery’s Te Muna Road vineyard in Martinborough, at the southern end of the North Island. The wine’s fleshy peach and nectarine flavors are ripe, juicy and appealing, with fresh fennel, grapefruit zest, jasmine and mineral accents; generous, supple and refreshing, it offers terrific intensity on the finish.
