Both Chateau d'Esclan and Caves d'Esclan, set up as both a negociant business and a winery, are the property of Sacha Lichine, son of the late Alexis Lichine and the former owners of Chateau Prieure Lichine in Bordeaux. Together with winemaker Patrick Lyon he has created in Whispering Angel what many are calling the new benchmark for Provence rose. A blend of Grenache, Rolle, Cinsault, Syrah, and Mourvedre, the wine is delicate and fresh with plenty of crisp strawberry fruit and a long finish; it is elegant, with a strong sense of power behind its delicate flavors.
