Maison Saint Aix is a 130-year-old winery located just an hour northeast of the town of Aix-en-Provence, near Mont Sainte Victoire. It was founded in 1880 as a truffle orchard and converted to vineyards in the early 1900s. Today it is one of the largest wineries in the entire Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence appellation. Mostly Grenache with some Cinsault, Syrah, and Carignane blended in, it has a delicate perfume of ripe mandarin oranges, raspberries, and wild strawberries and is slightly spicy on the palate.
