Château Pichon-Longueville Baron is a second growth of the Médoc Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification and one of the most typical of Pauillacs. It is made from vines mainly situated on the historical terroir of the estate. The wines are powerful, rich in tannins, elegant yet muscular. The 2016 vintage, an 85/15 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot done in 80% new French oak, offers a seductive nose of red and black currants, black plums, and truffles and a palate of great depth, drive, and detail, with fine plush tanins. Critics have called this the greatest Pichon Baron since 1989 and predict a long future for it.
