Chamucos was first introduced in 1982, the joint project of the Oscar nominated Mexican film director, Antonio Urrutia, and his close friend, a hand-blown glass bottle artist/producer, Cesar Hernandez; they were subsequently joied by U. S. importer, Mark Howard, who was interested in creating his own tequila brand. Their first offering was a reposado, the recipe/formula the work of the three, under the lead of renowned Master Distiller, Ing. Hector Davalos. The blanco and the anejo were added in 2009 and 2010; all are highland tequila using only organic Los Altos agave. The anejo, aged in a combination of French oak and American white oak, is elegant and solky, with rich aromas of toasted oak and vanilla and a palate of sun-ripened tropical fruits and spices.
