Rodica is a family-run organic winery in Truške, a village about seven miles from Slovenia’s main port city of Koper; it’s the southernmost part of Slovenia’s Primorska region and the heart of its Istra (Istria) district. The estate consists of about 38 acres of vineyards planted to several different varietals, Malvazija being the most important white grape. The Rodica Malvazija is made from 100% Malvazija Istriana. After fermentation in stainless steel, 25% of the wine is aged for six months in large acacia barrels, with the rest in stainless steel and then bottled unfiltered. It has intense aromas of wildflowers and peaches and is round on the palate, with balanced acidity and great depth of flavor.
