Founded in 1962, Ridge Vineyards has enjoyed a stellar reputation for producing exceptional wines almost from day one, thanks in large part to the leadership of iconic figure Paul Draper. Draper retired in 2016 at the age of 80, but Ridge continues to be run by a team of executives who have been with the winery for decades. The history of the Ridge Sonoma County Three Valleys began with the release of the 2001. The wine contains grapes from a number of Sonoma vineyards, and while it is Zinfandel-driven, other varietals play a part. Unlike their single-vineyard wines, which reflect the distinctive character of each site, Three Valleys represents the blending of vineyards, winemaking at its finest. Zinfandel determines the wine's varietal character; old-vine Carignane contributes bright fruit and acidity; Petite Sirah spice, depth of color, and firm tannins; Grenache brings briary fruit and lively tannins.
