Bugey is a historic region of eastern France, located about halfway between Lyons and Geneva, and its specialty is Cerdon du Bugey, a semi-sweet, sparkling rosé , relatively low in alcohol because it is bottled when onl partially fermented. This version, made by seventh-generation winemaker Alain Renardat and his son Elie, is a traditional blend of Gamay and Poulsard Somewhat fragile, Cerdon is to be consumed throughout the year following the vintage. Renardat's is delicate, berry-scented, refreshing, and makes a delicious aperitif or dessert wine (even chocolate goes well with it).
