Château du Châtelard is situated in the heart of the Beaujolais between Fleurie and Morgon . Rebuilt during the 18th and the 19th centuries, Châtelard is a “poype” (building situated on a hill and surrounded by ditches), and Its arched caves are the only vestiges of its 12th century origins. The vineyard and the winery were mainly established before 1955 and the 80 acres of vines are set in beautiful rolling Beaujolais countryside. The estate is now managed by Aurélie de Vermont; born in the Beaujolais area, she is the winemaker and has been working in France and overseas for ten years. Her Beaujolais Villages is 100% old-vines Gamay; it shows notes of black and red fruits with a hint of mocha, with soft supple tannins and a fruity finish.
