Poggio Anima is a joint venture between one of Tuscany's rising stars, Riccardo Campinoti of Le Ragnaie in Montalcino, and his American importer, Ronnie Sanders of Vine Street Imports. The idea is straightforward: to source great vineyards from existing relationships and produce a real wine that conveys a place and a grape. Currently there are seven different wines in this collection, four reds, two whites and a rosé, representing four different wine regions. Among them is this “Belial,” a 100% Sangiovese sourced from vineyard sites near Arezzo and Siena; done in stainless steel and bottled unfined and unfiltered, this is a fresh young red with plenty of ripe fruit, lively acidity, and ripe tannins.
