Moillard was established in 1850 by Symphorien Moillard and remained in the Thomas-Moillard family until 2008, when the historic negociant house was acquired by fellow Burgundian Vincent Sauvestre. Sauvestre, who owns both the négociant Jean-Baptiste Béjot and more than 740 acres of vineyards from Chablis to Provence, gained Moillard's 75 acres in Burgundy and 180 acres in the Languedoc, plus its stores of older vintages for his new group Béjot-Moillard. Today the Moillard wine estate comprises some 75 acres spread over both the Cote de Beaune and the Cote de Nuits. This Gevrey, from a premier cru vineyard, shows licorice and fresh red berries on the nose and is elegant and refined, bright and elegant on the palate, with supple, dense tannins and a long finish.
