A property dating back to the late 1600s, Domaine du Chevalier has been in the hands of the Bernard family since 1983. It continues today as a family-owned and –run estate, with Olivier and Anne Bernard now joined by their sons Adrien and Hugo. Under Olivier’s direction, the estate has grown from its original 45 acres of vineyard to 300 acres today. L’Esprit de Chevalier is the estate’s second wine, a blend of wine made from the estate’s younger vines with vats that don’t have quite the structure and focus demanded for the primary wine. This is, nonetheless, a complex, well-balanced, well-structured Bordeaux, elegant enough to be in keeping with Domaine de Chevalier’s image.
