Don and Rhonda Carano were first introduced to the charms of northern Sonoma County in 1979; eventually they not only bought a 60-acre parcel in Alexander Valley but began taking classes in enology and viticulture. Ground was broken for the Dry Creek winery in 1985, and the first wines, a Chardonnay and a Fume Blanc, were released in 1987. Don passed away in 2017 but Rhonda continues to be actively involved and is ably supported by a team that includes two very talented woman winemakers, Sarah Quider (white wines) and Rebekah Deike (reds). This Chardonnay is a blend of grapes from sixty different vineyard lots throughout Sonoma County; complex and full-bodied, it has aromas of pear, white peach, and orange blossom perfectly balanced by flavors of Fuji apple with creamy vanilla undertones.
