Jack Cakebread is one of Napa Valley's true pioneers, having bought what became Cakebread Cellars more than forty years ago. Today operations are in the more than capable hands of son Bruce, who has greatly increased the level of knowledge and sophistication involved in production of the Cakebread wines. With the accession of Bruce to the job of President/CEO in 2002, control over all aspects of winemaking passed to 25-year veteran Julianne Laks. Hers is a medium-bodied Chardonnay with great poise and finesse; it delivers a racy backbone and loads of tight-knit stone fruit flavors, with a long toasty finish.
