Jean-Pierre Boisson, former long-serving mayor of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, runs Domaine Père Caboche with his children Emily and Nicolas. Members of the Boisson family have been both winemakers and blacksmiths for generations, dating back at least to 1772. Not surprisingly, the domaine is known primarily for its Chateauneuf, made from their very old vines, but in recent years they have used their "Petit Caboche" line to showcase their wines from the region of Vaucluse. The white is a bit of a surprise, coming from this part of France, a Sauvignon Blanc; highly aromatic, with notes of green apple and citrus, it has a beautifully balanced palate with delicate citrus flavors on the finish.
