François-Xavier Dauré, F.X. for short, represents the fourth generation of the family to grow grapes in and around the village of Espira de L’Agly in the eastern reaches of Roussillon in southwestern France. He took charge of the family domaine in 2015, converting to organic farming, selling the grapes to the local cooperative until breaking out with his own label in 2016. He is seen as a rising star of the region, producing wines of great tension, balance, and character. His “Calentu” is 100% Grenache, done in fiberglasss vats and aged in amphorae for eight months, then bottled unfined and unfiltered; fresh and bright, it is filled with crunchy red fruit.
