In 2011, successful Parisian restaurateur and wine lover Patrick du Jeu joined forces with his uncle to purchase two impressive properties, Les Heritiers Saint-Genys in Chassagne-Montrachet and Le Clos Marcilly in Mercurey, combining the two under the “Les Heritiers” name. In 2017 du Jeu added this property in Morgon to his growing portfolio. Lathevalle’s 25-acres of vines are located within the hilltop vineyard of Les Charmes, along with the Cote de Py one of the two prized locations in Morgon. Wines from here are said to have the fruit of a Beaujolais but the charm of a Burgundy, and this offering will show you why: sourced from vines that are between 35 and 60 years of age, it offers a concentrated palate that is serious and densely fruit, with well-structured tannins that suggest good ageing potential.
