Domaine de Cristia was founded in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1942 with only five acres of vines. Today, three generations of the Grangeon family later, the winery has grown to fifty acres and is in the more-than-capable hands of winemaker Baptiste Grangeon and his sister Dominique. Their Syrah and Mourvèdre vines average 55 years old and the oldest Grenache is more than 100 years old. This Chateauneuf is an 85/15 blend of Grenache and Syrah from vines averaging more than 50 years old; ripe and rounded, it has ample amounts of black cherries and plums and is full-bodied, creamy and lush, with a lingering, silky finish.
