Created in 2001 by Gilles Gasq, and run with his wife Sylvie, Domaine La Manarine is a 45-acre estate located on a splendid plateau known as Le Plan de Dieu just northeast of Orange. Gilles is a talented winemaker who has honed his skills working as an assistant to Paul Jeune, the proprietor of Domaine Monpertuis in Chateauneuf. His vineyards are planted largely to Grenache, but there are several parcels devoted to white varieties. “Les Terres Saintes” is Gasq’s prestige cuvee, an 80/20 blend of Grenache and Syrah; spicy and herbal on the nose, it features ripe cherry and blackberry fruit with mild tannins on its lengthy finish.
