In 2020 the British wine magazine Decanter singled out Domaine Belleville as “a new Burgundy name to look out for,” and this bottling will show you why. The estate, which dates back to the early years of the 20th century, owns 45 acres across the Cote Chalonnaise and the Cote d’Or and has strong links to most of the key climats in the Rully AOP, including holdings in Les Cloux and Rabourcé on the site of the original Gallo-Roman village. Since 2017 it has been owned by an American couple, Mark Nunnelly and Denise Dupre, who are also owners of Leclerc Briant in Champagne. La Cree is a vineyard that was once a part of the “La Pucelle” vineyard, which is classed as a “premier cru.” With buttery and toasty aromas, the wine is lively on the palate yet fat and rich, with compelling complexity overall.
