Château de la Presle is a family-run domaine in the Touraine appellation, situated in a privileged position between the Loire to the north and its tributary, the Cher, to the south. The Sauvignon Blanc grape in particular does well here on the sloping sandy-clay soils. The domaine is managed by Anne-Sophie Meurgey, whose father Jean-Marie Penet ran the estate for years. Anne-Sophie’s husband, Frédéric Meurgey, is also a talented winemaker and of Burgundian origin. The estate has made great strides under their influence and new perspective. The Sauvignon Blanc made here is very clearly French despite its highly pure, modern profile.
