Corbin is one of the oldest estates in St. Emilion, dating way back to the 15th century. In 1924 it came into the Cruse family and is today ably managed by Annabelle Cruse-Bardinet. Like many Bordeaux estates, Chateau Corbin believes in passing down the chateau through lineage, but what makes Corbin unique is that the line of succession has been passed from mother to daughter for multiple generations. With roughly 38 acres, the vineyard here is planted to 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. This 2016 vintage is an 89/11 blend of the two grapes; aged in 50% new and 33% one-year-old French oak for 18 months; it is medium- to full-bodied, firm and grainy, with a great core of muscular fruit and an earthy finish.
