This is a multigenerational domaine in the heart of Sancerre, now in the hands of Anais Chaumeau, who took charge after the passing of her mother in 2021. The property extends over the rolling hills of Bué, with vineyards (26 acres of Sauvignon Blanc and nearly 8 of Pinot Noir) scattered among the different faces of the hills. All the wines are aged in stainless steel in order to preserve freshness and aged on the lees for two to three months for added complexity. The domaine can attribute a large portion of its success to the Kimmeridian ridge, a geological feature of limestone and clay soils that contribute to the body and mineral-driven flavor profile of their wines and allow the domaine to produce a clean, intense, and flavorful product. This Sancerre Blanc perfectly illustrates those qualities: it is classic Sancerre, from Bué, stony and flinty, with bright grapefruit, grassy, and gooseberry notes.
