Conubndrum White was first created in 1989 by Charlie Wagner, Sr., founder, with his wife Lorna, of Caymus Vineyards, the result of Charlie’s insatiable desire to blend different grapes to make for the perfect wine to accompany his dinner; with its mysterious tropical notes and great versatility, the wine, a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Muscat Canelli, and Viognier, was an instant hit. Conundrum is still owned by Caymus, but they split it into a separate brand beginning with the 2001 vintage. Charlie Wagner (third generation) remains Director of Winemaking. Grapes for the blend are now sourced from a mix of Napa, Sonoma, Santa Barbara, and Tulare Counties; a complex wine of genuine rut intensity, it has aromas of honeysuckle and orange blossom, zesty citrus, and a touch of tropical fruit.
