The winery was founded in 1940 in the Barolo commune of Castigione Falletto, where they originally sold their fruit to established wineries. In 1960, brothers Settimo and Pier Franco took over production and began bottling their own wine. Today the next generation is in charge, in the person of Settimo’s son Flavio, who farms forty acres of vineyards, all of which are located in Castiglione Falletto, except for one small vneyard in Canelli for the production of Moscato. The “Ciabot Tanasio” is a blend of Nebbiolo grapes from three different vineyards in Castiglione Falletto; complex and ageworthy, it shows ample red fruit with aromas of black plum, leather and anise and is full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long, lingering finish.
