This cooperative in the Abruzzo region of Italy was founded in 1971 by a group of small vineyard owners in need of economic viability. Today it comprises 120 members owning some 750 acres, half of them with small parcels of little more than five acres. All of their power comes from renewable sources, either solar power from their own plant or from an energy company that only uses renewable energy. "Le Corone" is 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, aged four months, briefly in oak; an honest wine with excellent structure, it shows soft red fruit, a slight earthiness, and bright acidity.
