Vincent Bitouzet’s ancestral roots in Burgundy cover at least the last two centuries. His great-great grandfather, M. Gillotte, arrived in the region in 1802, and in 1804, the Bitouzet line settled in Volnay. The Bitouzets were one of the first of the family domaines in this region to bottle their wines. Vincent’s wife, Annie Prieur, has equally distinguished antecedents, her family having been long establlished in Meursault and Ladoix. Son Francois is now working hand-in-hand with his parents. This is their entry-level offering, a finely crafted red Burgundy made for immediate enjoyment. It has pretty red berry fruits with plenty of depth and punch, rounded out with hints of earth and a touch of rusticity.
