Domaine de la Tournelle, created in 1991 with barely two acres of vines, was and continues to be the product of its proud founders Evelyne and Pascal Clairet, both consulting winemakers before Tournelle; since the time of its creation the domaine has grown to encompass 15 acres, all planted to the Jura’s unique varietals. The Clairets produced their first wines in 1995; In 2003 they went organic and in 2006 they went biodynamic. Their Vin de Paille is a sweet wine made from equal portions of Ploussard, Chardonnay and Savagnin. The grapes are picked early to maintain acidity and then dried on wooden racks in a barn for two to six months. This is a wine of great distinction, well balanced, with aromas of pear and quince.
