The D. E. W. stands for Daniel E. Williams, who started working in the Tullamore distillery as a small boy, shoveling barley, and rose to become General Manager in 1887 and then owner; it was his pride in what he produced that led him to stamp his initials on every bottle. This is the original blended Irish whiskey, known the world over for its smooth and gentle complexity; triple-distilled, it is aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, developing its distinctive smoothness.
