Lalo Tequila is made in the highlands of Jalisco, and the company is owned by Mexicans. The distillery was founded in 2020 by Eduardo "Lalo" González, the grandson of tequila pioneer Don Julio González, who gave Lalo his nickname, and Lalo’s childhood friend David Carballido. It started as a private batch for friends and family in Guadalajara, then was launched as an official brand after an overwhelmingly positive reaction. Lalo is made with only three ingredients, water, agave, and champagne yeast; it is additive-free and is unaged to preserve the natural flavor of the agave. The result is a blanco with plenty of flavor and character, smooth on the palate, with herbal agave notes, citrus, and black pepper.
