Founded in 1857 by a tavern owner and tequila producer named Lazaro Gaillardo, remains today a family-owned business, but one that has grown to be the producer of Mexico’s #1 tequila. Artfully crafted in the highlands of Jalisco, it is made with only the finest agaves roasted in traditional brick ovens and distilled slowly in small batches. Their plata is pale gold in color, the result of its having been aged 28 days in new French Limousin oak barrels; it has the weight and depth of something more mature than a plata, with rich fruit flavors, a pleasant spicy kick, and a faint whiff of smoke.
