Located in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, the Faccia Bruto distillery was founded in the spring of 2020 by Patrick Miller, the former executive chef of Rucola in Brooklyn. Miller grew up in an Italian-American household, for which he credits his love for Old World Italian spirits. Early times though this may be for Miller, he can already boast three prestigious awards from the 2020 NY International Spirits Competition: one for Distillery of the Year, a Bronze for his Fernet Pianta, and a Gold for this Aperitivo. The Aperitivo is made using a two-week maceration of organic gentia, quassia, star anise, allspice, kola nut, rhubarb root, orange peel amd salt in neutral grain spirit. It combines the lightness of Aperol with the bitterness of Campari, but with more herbal depth and intense spiciness.
